Export Achievement Award11/16/2011

Arkel International of Baton Rouge and Anvil Attachments of Slaughter have received Export Achievement Awards from the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Service. The award recognizes small- to medium-size companies successfully exporting their products and services to international markets in conjunction with the U.S. Commercial Service. Arkel is a medium-size infrastructure and essential services company employing over 250 people. They worked with U.S. Commercial Service employees at the U.S. embassy in Iraq to secure an Iraqi Business License and close contracts worth $5 million with an international oil company. They also have a $29 million contract with the U.S. government to help service U.S. operations in Iraq. Anvil Attachments is a manufacturer of grabs, grapples and clamshell buckets for bulk material handling, among other services, and employs 78 people. During a Louisiana trade mission to Nigeria sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Anvil Attachments formed a relationship with Brothers Equipment of Lagos, Nigeria, and signed an agreement that will help produce a new product line specifically designed for export to West Africa.
